Tentang Teaching and Learning English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia

In general, the purpose of learning a language whether it is as the first language (L1), the second language (L2), or the foreign language (FL) is relatively the same, that is, to be able to communicate in the language learned. What is meant by being able to communicate in the language learned is being able to understand the language spoken and/or written in any genre and in any context well. This is what is called receptive skills. However, having the ability to understand spoken and/or written language is not adequate. Being able to communicate also means being understood by others when the learner speaks and/or writes without being misunderstood. This is what is called productive skills.
